MINDFULNESS & MOVEMENT - Mondays 1st-3rd Grade CANCELED

By Ms. Stein and Ms. Helzer

In this 8 week session we will explore the physical postures of yoga, meditation, partake in mindfulness crafting, activities, and hold space for discussion. In our classes we do not strive for or expect precision in alignment with children, rather we encourage the efforts of children and alter the activity to build body awareness as necessary when attempts are being made. Children are inherently yogis; they are always present, and with the right focus easily engaged. You can teach them to recognize their intrinsic gifts and refine intrapersonal life skills through asana (poses), pranayama (breath and energy regulation), as well as the yamas and niyamas (external and internal guidelines). Yoga can help alleviate growing pains, build self-trust, self-awareness, confidence, and release anxiety. More and more scientific studies reveal the benefits of yoga and mindfulness for children.

WHEN: Mondays, 3:10 - 4:10 PM  (1.0 hours)

SESSIONSeptember 20 - November 8  - 8 weeks

WHERE:  Parish Hall

WHO: 2nd - 3rd Grade (8-12 students)

FEE:  $105 (includes craft materials)
