of programming, so that our students don’t get bogged down in

the details and get frustrated when their program doesn’t work.

We use a program with an intuitive drag-and-drop interface that

allows the user to make what they want to make, while learning

the fundamental logic of coding that underlies every written

For a better experience we have created classes for two different age groups!

FitKids uses physical activity in the form of games and workouts to teach and emphasize healthy movement throughout childhood and adolescence. Consistently good mechanics translates to physical literacy, enhanced sports performance and fewer sports injuries for kids. Not only that, a vast body of research indicates that exercise is beneficial to cognitive function, which means consistent adherence to the program like FitKids can have a positive impact on children’s academic achievement. Higher self esteem and the ability to enjoy physical activity are also common benefits of FitKids. This class is designed to be fun for all ages.

By Al Davignon

We are offering two sessions this semester to be able to zero on a couple of concepts.

Session 1 – This session is aimed at beginner-skill students and is focused on building a model and downloading existing codes so that students can get an early understanding of how computers and software can control physical robots. This class will be using existing Lego programs and working with our Lego Mindstorms education kits.

Session 2: This class is best for returning students or students with some robot building/coding experience or real interest. It involves building a robot with more time spent on coding.  We will design and build a test course and learn to program the robot to negotiate its way around the challenges.  The students would learn (from the Lego website):

  • Use different reasoning approaches to evaluate evidence and develop theories
  • Create and work with data to solve problems and draw conclusions
  • Learn to identify problems and use appropriate tools to find and communicate solutions
  • Refine their use of science and engineering practices to solve problems, hone ideas, and evaluate solutions
