This course will cover a variety of topics related to the state's history including early settlement, statehood, government, geography, economics and climate. The civics component will help students understand just how government functions, the division of government into local, state, and national components, and the system of checks and balances. Challenges our state faces today will also be a topic covered. In the spring, providing the current pandemic has ended, students will have the opportunity to take a four-day field trip to participate in hands-on authentic learning about Washington state.
