Why Choose St. Francis

Academics

St. Francis of Assisi School has a long tradition of academic excellence provided in a safe, caring, Christian environment.  Our student body is comprised of Kindergarten through 8th grade children whose parents and grandparents attended St. Francis School as well as students from families just joining our school community.  We welcome and involve both old and new families.

Our students have many opportunities to shine.  We have high academic standards and provide the support necessary to meet and exceed those standards.  With our strong focus on volunteering, our students learn the importance of service.  Our goal is to build in our students a strong foundation that will support them throughout their lives.

We measure our success in different ways.  Our students perform well on standardized and criteria based tests.  They are involved in many activities and provide hundreds of hours of service to others.  From all indications, our students are well prepared spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically when they leave St. Francis of Assisi school.  Our graduates are now at Seattle Prep, Kennedy Catholic, O'Dea, Holy Names Academy, Blanchet High School, Seattle Christian, Mt. Rainier High School, Highline High, and Aviation High School to name a few.

Extended Day Program

St. Francis of Assisi School created an Extended Day Program (EDP) in 1999 to meet the before/after school needs of our school families.  The primary focus of this program is to provide on-site, quality, supervised care for students.  A variety of activities and snacks are scheduled during the week to supplement the time reserved for completing school assignments.  Parents appreciate knowing that their children are in a safe, healthy environment during the hours before and after the regular school day.  Homework Club is available after school as part of the Extended Day Program.  The EDP handbook and and registration can be found on the EDP web page under School Life.

Facilities

Our school consists of 18 homerooms, a new library and computer lab, new gym, art room, resource rooms, Math rooms, Extended Day facility and a supervised playground.

Faculty

Our principal and faculty are Washington State certified.  They participate in an ongoing staff development programs, which include in-service conferences and state accredited workshops. If you are looking for teacher email addresses, please see the Staff Directory under About Us.

The St. Francis staff is committed to helping in the formation of people who will make a positive difference in our world.  With this in mind, we willingly accept the call to 'teach as Jesus did'.  We welcome you to join our family.
